| Hilo Noon is built from the sounds of an old wax cylinder recording of a popular song which were subject to extensive processing. The sheen and crackle of the original recording are still present even after the new treatments and provide an air of distressed nostalgia. Originally put together as sketch for a long-abandoned project, the track eventually seemed complete on its own, its fractured melodies having become comfortable again. |

Frozen Memory II is composed from two layers of sound – a layer of field recordings and a second layer of atmospheres created from these field recordings, processed, mutated and modified to recreate my state of mind when I recorded them.
The composition creates a contrast between what I was hearing and what I was feeling. This work is about filtering and interpreting external sounds and processing them in a way that they become familiar and associated with a certain place, time and state of mind.
Headphones would be the best listening experience. |

A recording of faint music from a basement window on a street corner in Krakow Poland. I am interested in the context of this field recording, which came from my own reaction of trying to find a musical form to the sounds coming from the window, while essentially ignoring the sonic gestures emerging from the movements around me.
The recording was done with minidisc and binaural microphones. |
